CD For love of Abbey (2010, Lionjazz)

a tribute to the great American singer Abbey Lincoln:

in connection with the eightieth birthday of Abbey Lincoln on the 6th of August 2010 I decided to release this CD ‘For love of Abbey’ in sincere appreciation of my favourite singer.  I came acquainted with Ms. Lincoln during a jazz festival in Gütersloh/Germany in 1995. Ms. Lincoln, touched by the fact that such a young singer ( I was 23 years old at the time ) had covered the Lincoln-song ‘Tender as a rose’ on her debut album ‘Winds of change’,  surprised her audience and me by singing ‘Tender as a rose’ as an encore and tribute to her young Dutch colleague.  Since that memorable night we stayed in touch, meeting each other whenever Ms.Lincoln toured Europe.
