The beautiful, velvet-like sound of the bones mixes perfectly with the warm voice of Masha Bijlsma, giving her melodic singing an extra dimension.

Hollands most famous trombonist, but equally well known abroad by his cooperation with great musicians as Peter Herbolzheimer, Slide Hampton and Mel Lewis, not only is a top notch accompanist, but also an elegant soloist who plays his instrument with great virtuosity.   He was appointed permanent first trombonist and soloist of the famous Metropole Orchestra in 1992 and was the leader of several bands : ‘ Bart’s Bones’,  ‘Trio Bart van Lier’ and the ‘Bart van Lier- Ilja Reyngoud Quintet’.

Over the years  Van Lier has given trombone workshops all over the world, in 2004 he got a professorship in Germany at the Folkwang Conservatory, Essen.

In 2015 Bart received the Jazz Award of the ITA, the International  Trombone Association (USA), as the trombone player of the year.                                                                         

                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

Adrian Mears  trombone/didgeridoo, teacher, composer

 After studying in New York with the likes of Robin Eubanks, Steve Turre, Conrad Herwig and Slide Hampton  Sydney-born Mears decided in 1991 to move to Europe where he quickly established himself as one of the strongest voices on the trombone in the European scene, playing with the Vienna Art Orchestra, Kenny Wheeler, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, McCoy Tyner’s Big Band, Charlie Mariano and many more. As a member of the international sextet UGETSU he travelled Europe, China and Australia.

Currently Mears is Professor at the Basel Music Academie (Switzerland) for Trombone and Ear Training.
